Imaguru Founder,
Tania Marinich's
Personal Story
A Vision for Empowerment and Freedom
Tania believes in a world where innovation and entrepreneurship are catalysts for freedom, critical thinking, and societal transformation. Throughout her life, she has worked to create opportunities for individuals and communities to realize their potential, even in the face of oppression.
Professionally, she has spent decades working at the intersection of entrepreneurship, democracy-building, and economic development. As the founder of Imaguru, the largest startup hub in Belarus, she spearheaded initiatives that nurtured 300+ startups, attracted $160M+ in investments, and created thousands of jobs. Imaguru became a rare space for free thought, innovation, and democratic values in an authoritarian environment, making it a target of the regime. Forced into exile, she continues to lead Imaguru's mission from new bases in Madrid and Warsaw.

In addition to her work with Imaguru, Tania has been actively engaged in advocating for democratic values. As a member and head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Belarusian Coordination Council within its second term, she led efforts to draft a comprehensive foreign affairs concept for the democratic forces of Belarus. She has coordinated strategic dialogues between the U.S. and Belarusian democratic forces, as well as consultative engagements with the European Union. These efforts aimed to build international solidarity and ensure the voices of Belarusians fighting for democracy are heard on the global stage.

Tania’s personal journey is deeply shaped by her family’s fight for democracy. Her late husband, Mikhail Marynich, was a Belarusian opposition leader, former Ambassador, Minister, and a political prisoner who dedicated his life to the struggle for a free and democratic Belarus. His courage and ultimate sacrifice inspired Tania to continue advocating for the values he held dear.

Today, she faces the challenges of statelessness, with her Belarusian passport expired and no viable means to renew it due to the regime’s persecution. This legal limbo limits her ability to operate effectively, build new opportunities, and advocate for democratic values. Resolving her legal status is critical—not just for her own ability to live and work freely, but to continue creating and contributing to a world that values innovation, freedom, and resilience.
Tania Marinich:
"I believe that entrepreneurship is a transformative force. It nurtures independence, fairness, and innovation—the very qualities necessary for a thriving democratic society. I see my role in advancing these values globally, connecting talents, and advocating for policies that protect freedom and creativity. I believe that together we can create a world where opportunity, innovation, and resilience thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances"
